چکیده
Health care financing continues to be a key challenge in the developing world. Despite efforts to improve the provision of health services, many lowand middle-income countries are still far from achieving universal health coverage. An estimated 1.3 billion people do not have access to effective and affordable health care, including drugs, surgeries, and other medical facilities. As documented by the World Health Organisation, developing countries bear 93 per cent of the world’s disease burden, yet merely account for 18 per cent of world income and 11 per cent of global health spending.

International development assistance from richer to poorer (“developing”) economies accounts for major flows of capital, human resources and technical assistance. While the net direction of these flows remains a topic of hot debate, there have been several barriers identified to the efficient use of aid within developing countries, many of which revolve around difficulties with achieving “good ...
متن کاملStability of cognition across wakefulness and dreams in psychotic major depression.
Cognitive bizarreness has been shown to be equally elevated in the dream and waking mentation of acutely symptomatic inpatients diagnosed with affective and non-affective psychoses. Although some studies have reported on dream content in non-psychotic depression, no study has previously measured this formal aspect of cognition in patients hospitalized for Psychotic Major Depression (PMD). Sixty...

متن کاملPelizaeus-Merzbacher disease in patients with molecularly confirmed diagnosis.
Pelizaeus-Merzbacher disease (PMD) is X-linked hypomyelinating leukodystrophy caused by mutations of the PLP1 gene, which codes the proteolipid protein 1. The result of mutations is abnormal myelination - hypomyelination and dysmyelination of cerebral white matter, and in some form of the disease hypomyelinating peripheral neuropathy. DNA samples from 68 patients suspected of PMD due to the cli...
متن کاملWeight-specific anticipatory coding of grip force in human dorsal premotor cortex.
The dorsal premotor cortex (PMd) uses prior sensory information for motor preparation. Here, we used a conditioning-and-map approach in 11 healthy male humans (mean age 27 years) to further clarify the role of PMd in anticipatory motor control. We transiently disrupted neuronal processing in PMd, using either continuous theta burst stimulation (cTBS) at 80% (inhibitory cTBS) or 30% (sham cTBS) ...
